About Battleground XL Bullies

Who We Are

Welcome to Battleground XL Bullies, home of high-quality XL American Bullies bred with care, knowledge, and heart. Our program began with a foundation female from XDP Designer Pitbulls and a carefully selected sire from Bossy Kennels. This pairing unites proven genetics from two respected bloodlines known for producing dogs with excellent structure, steady temperament, and overall health.

From day one, our focus has been simple: produce healthy, well-structured, stable XL Bullies that excel as family companions and reflect the best qualities of the breed. We aren’t just breeding dogs, we’re building a legacy of soundness, temperament, and responsible ownership.

Our Breeding Philosophy

  • Temperament first:
We select pairings with even, confident, people-oriented temperaments. A great family dog starts with a great disposition.

  • Structure and health:
Correct structure supports long-term soundness. We prioritize balance, movement, and type while keeping health front and center.

  • Purposeful pairings:
Every breeding is planned to complement strengths and improve weaknesses, never to “just make puppies.”

How We Raise Our Puppies

All of our puppies are raised in our home, never in kennels. They are part of daily life, hearing normal household sounds and interacting with adults and supervised children. From the very beginning, we introduce:

  • Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and age-appropriate enrichment to support resilience and learning.

  • Hands-on socialization, including gentle handling and positive experiences with different textures, sounds, and environments.

  • Time with their mother, so each puppy learns vital canine social skills and natural communication.

The result? Puppies who are confident, curious, and ready to integrate into loving homes.

Health, Care, and Support

  • We take pride in the dedication it takes to raise puppies the right way. Our program emphasizes:

    • Preventative veterinary care appropriate to age.

    • Clean, enriched environments that support healthy development.

    • Thoughtful matching of puppies to families’ lifestyles and goals.

    • Ongoing guidance on nutrition, training, and responsible ownership, because our relationship doesn’t end on pickup day.

The XL American Bully: Breed Overview

The XL American Bully is a companion breed developed from American Bully lines to emphasize a confident, stable temperament and a muscular, athletic build. While they present a powerful silhouette, the hallmark of the breed is its friendly, people-focused nature.

At a glance

  • Temperament: Confident, affectionate, eager to please, steady with proper socialization.

  • Size: Larger, heavier frame than Standard American Bullies, with males typically taller and more substantial.

  • Energy level: Moderate. Enjoys daily activity but is equally content to relax with the family after exercise.

  • Trainability: High food and praise-motivated; thrives with clear, consistent direction.

  • Coat care: Low maintenance, short coat with routine brushing and nail care.

The XL American Bully should not be human-aggressive. Sound temperament is essential, and responsible breeders actively select for it.

Why XL American Bullies Make Great Family Dogs

  • People-oriented and affectionate. XL Bullies tend to bond closely with their families and often think they’re lap dogs despite their size.

  • Steady and confident. When properly bred and socialized, they are calm, even-keeled companions that handle everyday life with ease.

  • Trainable and eager to please. Their desire to engage with people makes them quick learners in obedience, manners, and family routines.

  • Adaptable lifestyles. Whether you enjoy weekend hikes or cozy evenings at home, an XL Bully is happy to be part of the plan so long as they’re with you.

  • Great with kids (with supervision). Their gentle nature and sturdy build can make them wonderful around respectful children. As with any breed, teach kids appropriate boundaries and always supervise interactions.

  • Low grooming needs. A short coat and simple grooming routine means more time enjoying your dog and less time maintaining the coat.

Benefits of Owning This Breed

  • Companionship and loyalty: XL Bullies are famously devoted, expect a shadow that follows you from room to room.

  • Confidence builder for handlers: Their responsiveness to training gives owners a rewarding sense of teamwork and progress.

  • Active but manageable: Daily walks, play, and mental enrichment keep them happy; they don’t require marathon distances to thrive.

  • Community ambassadors: A well-mannered XL Bully changes minds and showcases what responsible breeding and ownership look like.

  • Family cohesion: Many owners find that involving the whole household in training and care strengthens family routines and connection.
